Changes to School Bus Routes

Dear Parents/Carers,

RE: Transport to school

Ahead of the new school term it would seem prudent to inform you of a number of changes to the private and public transport which serves St Peter’s. All students are
expected to be on site by 8.40am to commence their form time or Assembly at 8.45am and so please take note of the following should it apply to your son or daughter.

National Express from South Birmingham
A number of routes used by students have been changed as part of National Express West Midlands South Birmingham network review. In summary these are:

  • Route 37 has been withdrawn and replaced by Route 4 and 4a. Route 4 will operate the same route as the 37 but at a reduced frequency of every 10 rather than every 6
minutes so users may need to allow more time.
  • Route 31 now operates between Acocks Green and Solihull only at a reduced frequency. Hopefully, this will improve reliability but users are advised to check the
    new timetables.
  • Routes 5, 6 and 49 all have updated timetables available.

Hollywood Travel
We were advised by Hollywood Travel that the service they operate from Wythall and Earlswood to St Peter’s may no longer operate from September 2018. A number of
parents have expressed concern regarding this. The most recent message from Hollywood Travel was that they were considering operating a smaller vehicle if they
can secure the necessary numbers. They have asked us to inform parents who use this service that they should contact the company on 0121 436 6263 or via if they would like to avail of this service.

Alternatives include using the S3 run by Diamond Buses or the 823 run by National Express West Midlands. I have contacted National Express to inform them of the
potential withdrawal of the service from Hollywood Travel in case they want to amend their current provision. Parents may wish to make their own enquiries.

Yours sincerely,

Mr A Williams
