At St Peter's Catholic School, we are driven by a profound and unwavering faith. We aim to be so bold and explicit about our beliefs that grace envelops and sustains us in our mission, which is 'Faith is our Foundation'. Jesus said to our Patron, St Peter, “on this Rock I Build my Church”, Our heartfelt aspiration is to play a meaningful role in building God's kingdom, reflecting our deep commitment to our faith in every aspect of our school community. We believe that by embracing and living out our faith with courage and conviction, we can inspire and nurture the spiritual growth of our pupils, staff, and the entire school community, making them Missionary Disciples. Together, we strive to create a nurturing environment where God's love and grace are at the heart of everything we do.

New School Chapel
You will notice that starting from September 2025, we have proudly opened our new School Chapel. This significant addition has brought our Chapel to the forefront and centre of our school, serving as a visible and tangible sign of a truth that has always been at the heart of our institution: Jesus is at the forefront and centre of everything we do in our school. This new Chapel not only enhances the spiritual atmosphere of our school site but also stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to our faith and values. We hope that this sacred space will inspire and nurture the spiritual growth of our pupils, staff, and the entire school community.
Introduction to Discipleship Pathway
Starting in September 2025, we are excited to introduce the Discipleship Pathway. This initiative is designed to guide all pupils from their initial stage of faith in Year 7 through to a mature level of discipleship by the time they reach Year 13.
The foundation of the Discipleship Pathway is rooted in Evangelisation, which is the mission of making Jesus Christ known. This foundational step is achieved through Kerygmatic teaching, which permeates all aspects of our activities at St Peter's Catholic School. As a Catholic institution, our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ, as “Faith is our Foundation.” This allows those who have not yet encountered faith to embrace it and enables those already on their faith journey to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. This approach facilitates a profound conversion or discipleship, embedding Christ further into their lives and fostering transformative spiritual growth. By doing this, we live out our Mission Statement that Faith is our Foundation.

School Prayer
Our school prayer which is prayed daily and is displayed in classrooms and on each and every computer system.
House Saints
St Peter, our patron, is a source of great inspiration. ‘The rock’ of the church but equally somebody who didn’t always get everything right, makes him a perfect example.
Every pupil and member of staff is placed in one of our four Houses when they join school. Where possible, siblings are in the same House to foster a sense of family loyalty – and less tension on Sports Day! By being a member of the House family, pupils and staff are encouraged to be inspired by the values and virtues of their House Saint.
At the very heart of the House System is our school vision ‘ Faith is our Foundation.’
House aims are to:
- Participate in healthy competition
- Develop a sense of community cohesion
- Show compassion for other people
We hold regular House celebrations which are organised in a vertical fashion and are made up of pupils from Year 7 to 13. This breaks down barriers between the year groups and creates a sense of togetherness; encouraging the older pupils to look out for the younger ones. Houses have an associated colour.

St Francis of Assisi

Renowned for his love of nature and deep compassion for all living creatures, St Francis gave up a life of wealth to live in poverty and service. He founded the Franciscan Order and is remembered as the patron saint of animals and ecology. His message of peace and stewardship of God’s creation remains powerfully relevant today. |

St Mother Teresa of Calcutta

St Teresa dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, working tirelessly to offer love, dignity, and care to the forgotten and neglected. Canonised in 2016, she remains a global symbol of selfless compassion and faith in action. |

St Josephine Bakhita
|
Born in Sudan and kidnapped into slavery as a child, St Josephine eventually found freedom and became a religious sister in Italy. Her extraordinary journey from trauma to deep faith and forgiveness has made her a powerful patron for victims of slavery and human trafficking. Her story inspires resilience, dignity, and hope. |

St Carlo Acutis
|
A modern role model, Carlo Acutis was an Italian teenager who used his passion for technology to spread devotion to the Eucharist, creating a website documenting Eucharistic miracles. Known for his deep faith and charity, he was beatified in 2020 and is on the path to sainthood. He speaks directly to our digital generation with a message of holiness and purpose. |

The liturgical year displayed here, inspires and structured the themes of our Assemblies. Each year group has one year group assembly each week, with house assemblies taking place throughout the school year.

Live Simply Award
Over the past 18 months, our school community has demonstrated sustained faith in action through our commitment to the CAFOD Live Simply Award. Inspired by Laudato Si’, we established a school allotment which continues to be used across the curriculum to promote sustainability, care for creation, and responsibility for the environment.
We have actively lived in solidarity with others by completing the Big Lent Walk in partnership with several of our feeder primary schools, strengthening community links and raising awareness of global poverty. Our celebration of Fairtrade Fortnight has increased understanding of ethical consumption and continues to inform purchasing choices within school.
In response to local need, we hosted a Christmas dinner for elderly parishioners, fostering intergenerational relationships and ongoing parish links. Through a second-hand market, we encouraged reuse and waste reduction, embedding sustainable practices within our community. In addition, we partnered with Lions Club International by collecting and sending donated glasses to support eye clinics in Nigeria, Kenya, and India, helping pupils understand the global impact of small actions.
These initiatives have been fully supported by our parents and governors, ensuring shared ownership and long-term commitment. Through our Live Simply pledge, we are committed to embedding these practices into school life, ensuring that the changes made are sustained and continue to reflect the mission and values of St Peter’s.

Kenelm Trust Retreat Day
On Tuesday 3rd February 2026, we were delighted to host a Think Tank led by the Kenelm Youth Trust. Representatives from Years 9–11 took part in thoughtful and engaging discussions centred around Safety, Mental Health, and Faith.
We are truly grateful to Kenelm for giving our pupils this wonderful opportunity and are extremely proud of our pupils in the way they shared their thoughts, hopes and dreams with such confidence and grace.
